Two days off in a row feel like a holiday! Tomorrow I go back to working in the vineyard, though.
Today I spent the day downtown: I visited the art gallery - just one exhibition, but a good one!; wrote a couple of postcards, did a little bit of USEFUL shopping and spent the rest of the time in the library. I even caught Glee on TV tonight!
Due giorni liberi di fila mi sono sembrati quasi una vacanza!! Domani però si ritorna al lavoro nel vigneto!
Oggi ho passato la giornata in centro: ho visitato la galleria d'arte - una sola mostra, ma di quelle belle e interessanti; scritto alcune cartoline, fatto un po' di shopping UTILE e passato il resto della giornata in biblioteca. Questa sera sono persino riuscita a beccare Glee alla tv!!
Saturday, 12 October 2013 - Day #249
Today we worked in the gardens (we have two), weeding and preparing the soil for planting tomorrow. Excited about that! (<-- maybe I had one too many beers tonight!)
Working was hard today! It was really hot and we were digging under the midday sun.
Oggi abbiamo lavorato negli orti (ne abbiamo due), estirpando le erbacce e preparando il terreno per piantare domani nuove verdure! Yay!
È stata dura scavare sotto il sole di mezzogiorno! Vi lascio immaginare il caldo!
Sunday, 13 October 2013 - Day #250
We didn't plant in the gardens today; it was far too windy to do that. Instead Loretta found us another job to do in the vineyard.
This evening, in my spare time, I started watching Game Of Thrones. Man, is it addictive!
Alla fine non abbiamo piantato nulla negli orti oggi. C'era troppo vento! Loretta allora ci ha trovato un altro lavoretto da fare nel vigneto.
Questa sera, invece, nel mio tempo libero mi sono messa a guardare Trono di Spade. Mamma mia, quello show è una droga!
Monday, 14 October 2013 - Day #251
Temperature dropped in the night and this morning it was freezing as we set to work in the vineyard. Luckily, Loretta called us back in the house and we sheltered there till a warmer hour.
La temperatura è precipitata nel corso della notte e quando questa mattina siamo usciti per lavorare nel vigneto, stavamo congelando! Fortunatamente, Loretta ci ha chiamati in casa, dove ci siamo riparati fino a un'ora più calda.
Tuesday, 15 October 2013 - Day #252Today Loretta volunteered Ray services and mine as wine glass polishers at the wine show that started today.
Long story short: more than 300 wine glasses, more than five hours polishing.. Never again.
Loretta oggi ci ha prestato come volontari al Wine Show (un concorso di vini) che iniziava oggi. Il nostro compito? Lucidare i bicchieri da vino.
Per farla breve: più di trecento calici, più di cinque ore di lucidatura.. Mai più.

Today I found out I'd rather work in the cold, with the wind blowing than be bugged by flies as I was this morning. It was horrible. Freaking flies!
Oggi ho scoperto che preferisco di gran lunga lavorare al freddo e con il vento, piuttosto che circondata dalle mosche. Questa mattina è stata un inferno! Maledette mosche!
Thursday, 17 October 2013 - Day #254
Today the Wine Week started here in Orange. Loretta and Charlie will be very busy in the next 10 days or so.. As a matter of fact, this afternoon, since they would both be absent, they asked me to take care of the cellar door should anyone come to buy wine. Nobody came, as expected, but it still flatters me that they might ask me.
Oggi a Orange è cominciata la settimana del vino. Loretta e Charlie saranno parecchio impegnati nei prossimi giorni. Questo pomeriggio, per esempio, dato che nessuno sarebbe stato a casa, mi hanno chiesto di occuparmi della cantina nel caso fosse venuto qualcuno a comprare del vino. Come prevedibile, non è veenuto nessuno, però mi ha fatto comunque molto piacere che l'abbiano chiesto a me.
