Day #176

When I reminded Paolo and Alberto that today was Harry Potter's birthday they looked at me in a funny way. I wonder.. Anyway!!! SO. MANY. THINGS. TO. TELL. YOU.

First of all: I have a new cellphone!!! It's a Nokia Lumia 520, it's yellow and it was love at first sight! Not only that, with my prepaid sim I have facebook and Whatsapp included and that is simply marvellous! Wait for tons of pics on fb and get ready to hear a lot from me! I might cry: I've already been chatting with my best friends and my mom!!!  How beautiful is that?!

Second of all: I bought myself The Hunger Games on dvd, because a) it's The Hunger Games b) it's Jen Lawrence we're talking about c) Josh Hutcherson 'nough said. Plus it was on sale :D [I'm spending WAAAAAAAY too much money these days.]

Third of all: I spent the day at the markets, helping Sabrina and Enzo out with the pasta stand, but mostly trying to figure out how to make my new phone work. To thank me, Enzo got me flowers and when Sabrina told him we didn't have any vase to put them in, he got me one as well! Crazy, sweet, caring Enzo!
I had the whole day off, so I stayed till the markets closed and went back home with Sabrina.
Jeesh, we ate so much today! Oh my! The markets are bad for both your diet and your wallet! There was this stand selling Nutella Balls and we couldn't resist, then there was this other with the best turkish bread in Town and then Enzo cooked pasta for lunch and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting something else..
Once home, since I hadn't had enough, I cooked myself some Pasta alla Norma - eggplant, tomato sauce and cheese. Oh my, was it good! Delicious! I'm saving the recipe as one of the Easy 'N Tasty kind ;)

You remember I mentioned on Monday that Sabrina hung a cleaning roster on the fridge? That my go is every Monday, Cake's is on Wednesday and Sabri and Paolo's on Saturdays?
Well, guess whether Cake did what she was supposed to do today? I seriously can't get her.. she didn't even come back all day! I saw her at the markets and she told me she was going at a friend's house, and I mean, that's totally cool with me, but she should have done her share before thinking of enjoying and all.
Paolo texted her tonight, when we realized she meant she was sleeping over at her friend's house thus not even thinking twice about her duties in the unit. She said she'll clean tomorrow. We'll see. One thing for sure, we're not pleased at all and our patience is wearing thin.

Day #175

This morning I had breakfast with Claire in Southbank, at Max Brenner's - this place where they make hot chocolate in franchise. Gosh, we ate so much!!! Waffles, banana bread and croissant covered in melted chocolate, with strawberries, banana and icecream. That's how we roll - quite literally, I dare say.
On a side note, I've been eating too much chocolate in the last few days. I am afraid I am going to have to pay for that.

We spent the morning in the City. We had some shopping to do, but mainly we just convinced ourselves we needed stuff we could have done without. A new top, for example, or nail polish..
I went on a quest to buy myself a new perfume as those I am using now are both about to finish. I still haven't found a worthy replacement, but tomorrow the search will continue.
I also looked for a new phone and I think I might have found something I like :D This afternoon I got my salary, so tomorrow, as I am downtown to visit Enzo and Sabri at the markets, I am very likely to go and get myself a new mobile! Yay!

Once home, I opened my Internet browser on a tutorial on YouTube, I put a cup upside-down in front of me on the table and started practicing The Cup Song. Yup, that's how weird I am. My sister keeps posting pics on her facebook in which she looks hotter and hotter and I just get nerdier and nerdier. I guess that's life, uh?

ps. I would like to say thank you to you all for checking my blog out, especially to my readers from the States and from Russia, whom have been visiting a lot lately. THANK YOU!!!

Dicevo, siamo state tutta la mattina in City.

Oh, bè, c'est la vie, no?

Day #174

As every Monday, I had the day off.
But unlike many previous Mondays, this was a very productive one! I went to the local Health Centre to get my skin checked - dear readers, you may not know, but I have a whole galaxy of moles on my lower back and you know, when they are THAT many, it's always better to have them checked if you can do that for free.. Anyways, filling in the registration forms took me longer than the actual visit. I am all right, by the way. None of my buddies look dangerous.

Then, once home, I set on cleaning the public spaces - aka the bathroom and bedroom I share with Cake, the kitchen, living room and hallway. According to the weekly roster Sabrina hung on the fridge door, today it was my turn. This measure - the cleaning roster - has become a necessity since somebody *cough*Cake*cough* doesn't take too seriously her duties and responsabilities in sharing the unit with us. I'm afraid this is the last chance we're giving her: in the past few weeks, living together has become harder and harder - and let me assure you, it is not because of culture clash. I'm afraid it has more to do with character and attitude.

Tonight I had dinner at Karen's. Casey prepared tacos and Ash offered me some of her birthday cake leftovers - both were delicious. I gave Ash her birthday present as well: The Great Gatsby, because, let's face it, hardly anything is better than a good book; a journal with a very pretty cover and lastly a stamp, which is more of a joke, that says LAME!
During dinner we sat and watched the first episode of Big Brother Australia which, guess what, turned out to be pretty lame.

Day #173

Sheesh.. it got too late for a proper post. Not that there was anything worth while sharing about today.
I worked. It was good.

Davina pulled a joke on me tonight. When about to start packing up the restaurant and call it a night, she told me she'd go for a cigarette and then come back to do the bar as usual. Right after that, though, she added: 'On a second thought, I think I'll go home with the kids. You'll do floor and bar alone'. At first, I was like 'Is she kidding?' and the I was 'she sure does hate my guts'. By the time she told me she was just kidding, I had already worked on a plan to /try/ to do everything by myself. It would have taken me hours. I am so glad she didn't mean it.

Day #172

Spoiler alert: I have splitting headache, so I won't be entertaining at all in this post.

Today I slept a lot - I wasn't working at the restaurant this morning, so I took the chance for sleeping in; and ate a lot - yesterday I made some extra rice salad and man!, does that taste good!!! I worked a lot, as well: looks like I'll get some very serious money this week! Yay!
Tips weren't bad either, but I shared them with my colleagues and ended up getting less than I was given singularly. Davina commented on it saying that I do have a bunch of costumers that holds me as their ever favourite waitress. 'I know!' I answered flattered, but then I added 'Wait, is that a good or a bad thing?' - because with Davina you never know. She said she meant it as a compliment. Nice. I'm in no trouble, then.

Buono. Non sono nei guai, allora.

Day #171

Yesterday night at the Cloudland was alright. At first, Claire and I, we were wondering whether we should go out at all - we weren't really in the mood to party and all, but the introductory lesson they had this time was by far the best one out of the three we attended. The teacher took time to teach us the basics rather than create a simple coreography, so I'm proud to share with you that I finally know how to turn properly! Yay! I feel so accomplished ;)

Too bad the partners I danced with were expecting a little more than that: this guy tried to teach me new ways of spinning, tangling an untangling our arms, but I was hopeless. At the end of the song I thanked him and apologized for stepping on his foot. Then Claire came back from her spot on the floor and started speaking to me in Italian and it turned out that the guy I had just finished dancing with was Italian too!!! Mindblowing! I mean, I would have never guessed that! I have a confession to make: when Alessio told us he was Italian as well, I kind of rolled my eyes thinking he meant his great-great-grandfather had an uncle from Italy. I was wrong and we chatted a little after introductions. He said that no other state has better schools or better clubs for salsa and latino dance than Queensland, and that in between them all, the Cloudland is by far the best.

Well, the place is super pretty, all right!!!

Today I had a quiet day and tomorrow I'll sleep in as I start at 4pm at the restaurant and have the morning off.

A presto!

Day #170

Quick post because as soon as the washing machine is done, I'll take a shower and head to Claire's to get ready for another night out at the Cloudland!

Today was a boring quiet day at the restaurant.. nothing really worth while sharing happened, sorry about that. This morning though, as I was checking the Internet before my shift, I found out that MTV interviewer Josh Horowitz started following my Tumblr! That is insane! And I know it means close to nothing as he follows thousands of other blogs, but yeah, it still feels pretty good. I mean, he's like - the best celebrity interviewer out there!

Day #169

Today I went to the markets with Claire. First we stopped for a pedicure at the Myer Centre, though. I was wearing flats and managed to screw up the fresh nail polish in the first five minutes after I left the nail shop - yay.
Today Madderz by Design, the pastry stand, wasn't there and even though we passed by Enzo's just to say 'hi', he managed to sneak into our shopping bags two bags of spaghetti and two serves of his meatballs sauce! I thought I fooled him, turned out he knew better and gave my share to Claire to give me later!!! Oh well, we'll bring hime some treats next week..

So, with two bags of spaghetti and two lots of meatballs sauce, Claire and I decided to have lunch together. From Southbank we got the City Cat and once in Hamilton we stopped at her place and cooked pasta for the two of us and Chicca, one of Claire's flatmates.

At the restaurant we have new furniture: new chairs, tables and stools. They look so pretty and fancy - too bad they are slightly heavier than the previous ones, not to mention that these chairs are made of metal, whilst the others were wooden chairs, I'll let you imagine the nasty kind of bruises these can get you on your shins and forearms. Oh well, I guess I'll have to get used to that as well and maybe in a week, setting the restaurant won't take me longer than it used to be with the old set of furniture.

Day #168

Quick post because a) it's late b) I kind of had a long day - I met with Jess early this morning at the Pancake Manor for breakfast and had this huge plate with nuts, grilled banana and chocolate ice cream. Yummy, but a little bit heavy to digest even after walking up and down the Mall this morning. I spent the afternoon in; weather today has been beautiful, but it was chilly and windy outside.

Tonight Mitsu and Martina came over. It was Marti's birthday and she baked us some meringues. Mitsu, on the other hand, might move in with Alberto some place in the neigbourhood and she came over to discuss details and meet him.

When Cake got back from work I helped her out with an essay she is to hand over to her uncle tomorrow. I'm not saying I don't enjoy explaining her about grammar and stuff - because I actually do - it's just that sometimes it's so hard to understand each other that things take more time and we end up finishing revising the essay at midnight. That can be tough sometimes.

Day #167

Quiet day off, spent getting the usual stuff done: laundry, cleaning, cooking, Skyping, tea-drinking and chatting with Claire..

A really nice change in the routine came from a night-in, playing italian card games with Sabrina, Paolo and Alberto and drinking spirits. It was good fun! Paolo taught us a new game - which turned out to be a little bit too hard at that time of the night and especially after all those shots. I think we did alright, in the end, anyway.
I was teamed up with Sabri and we were kicking the guys' asses at 'scopa' till we got a little bit too tipsy to have our minds on the game and they had the best on us. There was a lot of laughing and inappropriate jokes, as well. It reminded me of the nights spent with my best friends in Italy - God, I miss them so much!

Day #166

Today we had glorious weather in Brisbane! And that set me in the best of moods, yay!
After my shift at the restaurant, I came home and was invited to join Sabri, Paolo and Alberto for a beer and a pizza. We first had drinks at the Powerhouse, near New Farm. There we waited for Martina to join us and when she arrived, we left for Sandgate, where we had dinner at this pizzeria called Il Forno.

Pizza was awesome and super tasty. We got desserts as well - I had a cheesecake, because, I mean, given the choice, what else would you get?! :P

Once back home, I skyped with my family and got transfixed over the new Catching Fire theatrical trailer. If you missed it - where do you live?!!! - here it is. Oh my. Is it November yet?

Siamo già a Novembre????

Day #165

Super-quick post tonight. It was the usual busy Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. B. came back to the restaurant with their family and in-laws tonight for dinner and as they left, they gave me a $20 bill as a tip! They are regulars and ever since I first serve them, we kind of got along. I've already talked to you about their amazing and ever polite children, and as they asked for my name this evening, I asked for the kids' as well. Maddie, John and Dave :D

Post super-velocissimo stasera. Tipico sabato sera parecchio impegnativo.
Maddie, John e Dave. :D

Friday 19 July 2013

Day #164

There's no way I'm going to bed late tonight.
Tomorrow I'll have to wake up at the break of dawn to get to work at 8 besides I got really fond of my bed lately and I'd rather sleep as long as possible. Sleep is good.

I had double shift today at the restaurant, but it wasn't too bad because my night shift only lasted from 7 to 9pm and in the afternoon it wasn't too busy. Nice.
This afternoon, during my break, I helped Alberto - who's still sleeping on the couch - out with sending some job application emails, as apparently I'm the more qualified in the house, writing-formal-letters-wise. Oh well, let's keep our fingers crossed.

And this is pretty much it. I didn't progress at all on Tess of the d'Urbervilles, and I'm kind of mad at Angel Asshole Clare. I mean, hello?! She got RAPED! It's not her effing fault, you idiot!!!!!! -.-

Assolutamente in nessun modo andrò a letto tardi stasera.

Thursday 18 July 2013

Day #163

So, back to Brisbane and apparently back to the usual routine, where I go to work, spend my time browsing the Internet and realize too late that I still need to publish the post of the day.
Ah. You missed it, didn't you? I did.. -.-

Not going to post a long thing tonight. Just wanted to let you know that we have a guest here in the unit these days. It's Alberto, a friend of Sabrina and Paolo's just arrived from Italy, who's gonna crash on our couch till he finds a better accomodation.

A me terribilmente.. -.-
Taglio corto stasera, comunque.

Day #162

Typing from my room in Hamilton, QLD. I got back from Sydney tonight at around 8pm.
Today was a quieter day. I took my time in checking out from the hostel: I slept in - I allowed myself to wake up at 8:30 instead of setting my alarm at 7am as I did the previous couple of days; took a shower, enjoyed breakfast, packed everything, checked one last time the timings for my train to the airport and then left.

I visited Newtown. A suburb that once was very alike Fitzroy, VIC, but now, despite keeping the status of hipster district with its retro shops and peculiar restaurants and bars, is far cleaner and definetely not as shabby as the latter.

I had a savoury crêpe for lunch and basically I think I overdid it, getting also a slice of banana bread in another café. In both places, I sat far longer than it took me to finish my meals because I didn't really feel like dragging my handluggage for a whole day like I did on Sunday and besides I was too caught up into Tess of the d'Urbervilles to put it down!

When I set to leave for the airport, I found myself at some Godforsaken train station where they had just one selling machine that accepted only cash - and I was 60 cents short in order to buy my ticket! I had to beg a stranger that luckily was passing that way. In case you were wondering, yes, it was embarassing. And no, there weren't any ATMs in the neighbourhood.

The flight back to Brisbane went all right, but we landed with some twenty minutes delay because someone is clearly having an hard time managing the air traffic in Brisbane Airport. Tony was nice enough to come and pick me up!

I just remember a small anecdote I forgot to share with you the other day. Sunday afternoon, after my heart skipped a beat at the sight of the Sydney Harbour, I found myself wandering through The Rocks, and I might have had a funny expression painted on my face because one policewoman asked me whether I needed any help. ''Oh, I'm just taking it all in,'' I answered her.

Perché ogni volta scrivo così tanto?!?! Devo volermi proprio male!!!

Day #161

This morning I visited the Sydney Opera House. It was a giuded tour organized by the SOH itself, costed $28 dollars but it was totally worth while. Robbie, our guide, was very knowledgeable and fun in his explanations. I couldn't take any picture of the Concert Hall or of the Joan Sutherland Theatre, because they were getting the stages ready for productions and we were forbidden to take out our cameras. I did take some pics of the outside and foyers, though! Here you go!
Look at that purple carpet!

One of the most interesting facts about the construction of the building - aside from the fact that Jørn Utzon, the architect, never saw it finished because he resigned before the 'sails' were even completed and never returned to Australia after that - is that the original plan was having the Opera House built in 3 years with a 7 million dollar budget, but it took them 16 years to finish it and they ended up spending more than 100 million dollars!!!

Another fun fact: you might think that the 'sails' or 'shells' are completely covered in white tiles, but truth is, there are more brownish colored tiles than white ones! Had the roofs been white, in the sunlight, everybody would have been blinded by the building!!

Well, long story short, not only did I find the tour interesting, but I thoroughly enjoyed the art and architecture lesson coming with it! I definitely recommend you should visit the SOH, should you happen to be in Sydney.
Oh, and yeah, I mentioned I couldn't take any pictures of the interior of the Concert Hall, but you should know that it's such a huge auditorium that I have no other adjective to describe it, but 'awe-inspiring'.

After that, I took a stroll through the Botanic Gardens, which are - guess what? - huge as well as full of different kinds of plants and flowers and birds!!! Seriously, they are massive. I got a map to find my way around and still managed to get lost - which doesn't happen to me that often because I am kind of a pro in reading city maps.
I also sat on a bench and read. The view I had from the bench was breathtaking: Sydney Harbour shimmering in the sunlight. I might get used to it!
In the early afternoon I visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and even though I wasn't really impressed by their collection of XVIII and XIX Centuries pieces, I was totally amazed by the contemporary art display they had there! Wow! Such powerful and strong imgages! And the use of materials and space, my goodness! Something to behold!!!

I also visited the Museum of Contemporary Art, in The Rocks, but it wasn't as good. Still, pretty nice, but not so mesmerizing!
After that visit I rushed back to the hostel because it was pouring rain and I was in my flats. Thank Goodness the hostel is right next to Central Station: I just had to jump on a train at Circular Quay and in less than 15 minutes I was already in my hostel room!!!

Day #160

Manly Beach, Manly, NSW
Had another pretty intense day! I visited Manly and Bondi Beach. They are both seaside locations, but at the same time they are very different from one another.

If you were waiting for a post as yesterday's, well, tough luck! Or anyway, I won't update much tonight.. I lingered a little bit too long in the hostel common room talking to my roommate Jamee and two french guests, Marion and Maxime.

Ho passato un'altra giornata parecchio intensa oggi! Ho visitato Manly e Bondi Beach.
On the ferry back from Manly.
Bondi Beach, Bondi, NSW

Day #159

As promised, I'm blogging from my hostel room in Sydney, NSW.
I'm staying at the Sydney Railway Square YHA. The coolest thing about my room - well, first it's huge, so even if I share it with other 7 people doesn't feel like it, a much appreciated change from the hostel I stayed at in London, but I was saying.. the coolest thing - is that it's a refurbished railway carriage giving onto the train station; the downside, however, is that it's a refurbished railway carriage giving onto the actual ever-busy railway station where trains come and go at any hour of the day and night and annoying speakers constantly remind you not to leave your bags unattended or do other weird things you'd never think of doing.

Oh well. I'll briefly go through my day. ahah 'Briefly' being the key word. It's going to take me ages to translate this. -.-
I woke up early this morning and spent a fortune on a taxi to go to Brisbane Domestic Airport. After checking in for the flight, once at the gate, I took out my laptop, because I'm an Internet addict, and *major drama* realized I forgot in the socket back home my adaptor. A heart attack and 13 bucks later, I had a new adaptor and was ready to board.

Flight went all right, it was surprisingly short, but I guess that's because I was completely absorbed in my reading. I started Tess of the d'Urbervilles: I like it already! But I'm less than a fifth into it and the not-so-subtle foreshadowing tells me a lot of shit will be going on soon enough.

From Sydney Airport to Central Station I took a train, and the hostel happens to be - as I mentioned before, right next to the station. Unfortunately my room wasn't ready yet, so I took off with my hand luggage - deposit would have meant an extra $5! - Fish Market-bound. There's something about markets that I particularly love. Anyways, had fish an chips sitting in a very crowded spot on the quay.
Then, after some more walking - by the way, I just calculated it on Google maps and I walked some 10 km today!!! - I landed to Darling Harbour, where they have convention centres, a park and a beautiful Chinese Garden - which I visited. Funniest/weirdest thing about the garden, with an extra $10 on the ticket price - $6 - you could dress up as Chinese emperor/empress/warrior and go around taking pictures.

Back to the hostel, I finally checked in and got rid of my hand luggage, which I had been dragging - and for the whole time in the Chinese Garden, helding - all morning. By then, I couldn't wait any longer: the weather had been glorious all morning and early afternoon and the temptation of seeing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House had been to strong to wait for the proper visit I planned for Tuesday.
The way to get to the lookout point where you can enjoy both Sydney's landmarks is pretty simple from my hostel - always straight on George St. - too bad it's more than 3 km long! I enjoyed the walk, but most of all, the awe-ispiring view of the Opera House 'sails'. When I first caught a glimpse of them, approaching Circular Quay, I felt a shiver down my spine, no kidding.
I was there, finally. I AM HERE. In Sydney! I have often dreamed about Australia back when I was a little girl, but still, even though I've been in Brisbane for the last five months, I didn't realize I did it! I actually did fulfill one of my childhood dreams and in that moment, this afternoon, it felt right, I was were I was meant to be at this stage of my life. It still does feel pretty great ;) I am so full of wonder and gratitude for where I am today that even though I said I'd be brief, I'm jibber-jabbering about dreams and fate and one's place.
I'm done now, I swear. After that, I walked a little bit through the closing The Rocks - wait for it - Sunday Markets and then walked back to the hostel. Stopped to get some groceries for dinner on the way.

ps. Being the huge Gleek I am, I couldn't help feeling guilty and terribly sad about my own happiness when I found out that Cory Monteith passed away last night.

Oh bè, sarò breve. ahah mi viene da ridere, soprattutto perché so già quanto invece mi ritroverò a scrivere -.-
Mannaggia a me!
Poi, dopo aver camminato ancora un po' - a proposito, ho controllato su Google maps e ho macinato qualcosa come 10 kilometri quest'oggi!!!

A Sydney! Incredibile!

Day #158

Post on the run because a) I haven't finished packing yet b) I'd rather take a shower tonight than rush tomorrow morning c) I'd love to get as much sleep as possible and it's already 11:30pm!!! :(

Work was better today. During my break this afternoon, I dropped down a small plan for the upcoming days in Sydney: tomorrow I'll stick to my hostel neighbourhood, on Monday I'll visit Manly and Bondi Beach, Tuesday will be dedicated to the Harbour (bought a ticket for a guided tour of the Opera House - can't even start telling you how excited I am about it!!!) and Wednesday: surprise! Mainly because I, myself, have no idea what I'll do. Any suggestions? What would you like me to blog about? And nope, I'm not going to climb up the Harbour Bridge - unless somebody is willing to pay the $200 ticket for me. :D

Okay, off I go. Will blog from my hostel room tomorrow night! OMG! Can't wait!!!!

Okay, scappo. Vi scrivo domani sera dal mio ostello!!! Ommamma!!! Non vedo l'ora!!!!

Day #157

I have a cold. It sucks.

Today at the restaurant I messed up pretty badly - nothing too serious - but still a) I'm disappointed with myself b) I had to pay with my tip money, which is not THE big deal, what I'm most upset about is failing Davina and Tony's expectations. *sigh* Making mistakes sucks.

Yesterday night at Cloudland was okay. Claire and I didn't have as much fun as last time, but we'll give it another try when we're both off - I don't really expect to have next Thrusday night off as I will be off pretty much the whole first part of the week, but maybe in two weeks. Music wasn't as good as two weeks ago and personally, I had hoped the cute guy I danced with would be there, but he wasn't. It sucked.

Ho il raffreddore. Cheppale.
Cheppalle.

Day #156

And the award for the Best Boss in the World goes to Davina Fiderio!!!! Guess who got enough days off next week to go to SYDNEY?!!!!!!! That's right! I did!!!!! :D Oh, my, I can barely hold it together!!! It has always been a dream of mine to visit it and who cares if it's Winter and I'm going to freeze, I'll be in Sydney!!! Yay!!!!
Just bought my flight and hostel. I'll stay there from Sunday through Wednesday :) Can't wait!!!
Ok, gotta start thinking what to put in my luggage..

At the moment I'm typing from the Hamilton Library as we have Internet problems at home.. and tonight I'll stay at Claire's - I guess - as we're going to the Salsa/Samba/Latino Night at Cloudlands in the Valley! Ok, gotta go.. library is closing for the day!
Talk to you soon!

This is the good life, guys! I'm so grateful!

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Day #155

Gah! It's too late for a proper post tonight!
Just so you know, today my awful eyesight proved even worse than I thought!!! I got on the 306 bus instead of the 300 and kind of got lost - I knew the last stop and I knew from there I could pick another bus back home.. but still! And not happy with being lost, I decided to forget touching-off my travel card and got fined some 5 dollars! That is like saying a whole journey and a half!! NOT FAIR.

Gah!
Cheppalle!!! Parliamone, 5 dollari sono un viaggio e mezzo!!! NON È GIUSTO.

Tuesday 9 July 2013

Day #154

Today I woke up again at the sound of Cake's alarm and realized she was keeping her phone in between our pillows - that's why I heard the noise so clearly! - but, unlike yesterday, I was lucid enough to move her phone up her pillow and leave it ringing in her ear. I know I am despicable for doing that, but, I mean, it's HER alarm clock, for goodness'sake!

In the early afternoon, I went to Toombul shopping centre, not far from here, looking for a nice top to wear this Thursday night as Claire and I are planning to go back to Cloudlands. I found none, but, on a brighter note, I bought a new book! Yay!
I'd been looking for A Tale of Two Cities by Mr. Charles Dickens in every bookshop I visited for the last three months, and today I found it!! By the way, I might be taking my obsession to The Infernal Devices to a whole new level as I am currently re-reading the saga - after only three months - and slowly reading all the books quoted and mentioned by my favourite characters, namely Will and Tessa  my babies. That is precisely how I started on Great Expectations and why last week I came into possession of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Oh well, they're classics, anyway! Shouldn't do me too much harm.

Monday 8 July 2013

Day #153

Today was a quiet, productive day: I
- slept, thus recovering from lack of sleep.
- spared my roommate's life (her freaking alarm clock went off, loud, playing a thai song at 6:30am on my day off and I managed not to kill her).
- did my laundry.
- cleaned my bathroom.
- did my shopping.
- Skyped with my grandma.
- read.

It was a good day, even though it had a disastrous start. Hopefully tomorrow the alarm won't be as startling.

Sunday 7 July 2013

Day #152

Oh, the joker I am!
I told you I would have updated yesterday's blog post this afternoon, but I fell asleep instead - still haven't fully recovered from Friday night. Hurray!
I must be some 50 years older than what's mentioned on my ID if it takes me a couple of days to get back on track.

Nothing much to tell about today.
Breaking News: waking up at 6:30am doesn't really help your case if you're trying to get back some hours of sleep. Unfortunately, that's what you gotta do if you need to shower, have breakfast, iron your uniform and keep your job by 8am.

Oh well, I'm not setting any allarm for tomorrow morning: I'm just going to wake up when I'm fed up with lying horizontally in my bed.
Ah! Good luck with that.

Ah!

Saturday 6 July 2013

Day #151

Sorry guys but I had very little sleep last night and tomorrow I start at 8am at the restaurant, so I'm putting off today's post to my break tomorrow afternoon.
Just so you know, weather has never been this lovely: glorious sun, cool breeze; I was wearing a mini skirt and tank top this afternoon and I didn't feel chilly at all. Now I see why people love Winter in Brisbane! Give me more days like these!!!!

Friday 5 July 2013

Day #150

I'm posting now because tonight after work I' joining Jess and her Aussie Farmers friends downtown and I'm not likely to make it home before tomorrow morning. Those Aussie Farmers are wild ones!

I had a really pleasant day: the weather has been glorious and I had a picnic with Claire in South Bank. Beautiful! Almost felt like a day off, if only I hadn't had to rush home to go to work!!!

Thursday 4 July 2013

Day #149

Quick post because a) nothing much happened today b) sleeeeeeeepiness.
Seriously, I should work on getting enough sleep.

Anyway, this afternoon I worked at the restaurant. The people from the French conversation group from the library told me they missed me last week when I wasn't working. Aw :)
Then, one customer asked me whether I'd be working in the evening because he wanted to be back for dinner with his daughter. I told him, unfortunately I wouldn't, but both him and his guest left me ten dollars tip each. Sweet.

ps. Happy 4th to my readers in the US :D

Fantastico.

Day #148

Sleepy. Just got back home after leaving this morning at 9:30. It has been a long day. Will tell you more soon.

Things will get better. :)

*UPDATE*
Still feeling sleepy, but it's not too late and if I put this off once again, I might as well stop blogging!
Ok, so the day started off pretty early when I went to the flourist's on Racecourse Rd to buy a small plant for Sabrina's birthday. I placed it back in the unit and then I left straight away for the markets.
The weather was glorious and even though forecast said we had 24 °C, it felt a lot hotter. I stayed at the markets for a couple of hours helping Sabrina and Enzo out and later left without getting any pastry because I wanted to cut on the sweets for the week - last famous words.
Back in Hamilton, I went at Claire's to read some more from the book we started together, but as she spent the whole day in, she wanted to go out for a coffee and have a walk. We ended up at the Vanilla Pod in Ascot, the place where I had breakfast with Jess a couple of times. I had tea and we shared a slice of red velvet. On our way back, we stopped at my place to pick up some salad I had already in the fridge, we wanted to keep healthy - last famous word - and then at Coles, where, somehow, we bought pancakes preparation and apricot jam - so much for the healthy diet and all.

It was a good evening. We saw three animation pictures: The Lion King - Simba's Pride, Tangled and The Road to El Dorado. It was a good night but I was pregnant with pancakes in the end.

Stanchissima.

Day #147

I thought the restaurant would stay empty tonight, but luckily we got quite a few tables during the evening. Jake, the new guy on trial, was there as well.
Best part of the evening, when packing up, the whole family, Davina, Tony and the twins helped out, so we actually closed the whole thing in far less time. Nice!

I apologize for being boring and all, but I don't really feel like writing these days.

Day #146

Today the weather was dreadful: it was pouring down non-stop.
I did pretty much nothing all day. I Skyped with a friend in Italy, with one in the States and later this evening with my Grandma.

Weather was so off I didn't even feel like going out to do my shopping and Heaven knows I should have had. I had the last bit of salad I had in the fridge and some of the chicken I had frozen a couple of weeks ago for lunch, and had carrots for dinner. Must have drank a couple of litres of tea during the afternoon: I was trying to get warm, you see.

I finished Sherlock and holy cow! Was that a finale!!!! November and season 3 are sooo far away!!!
