It had a slow start and it seemed to get even slower when I was picking out what to wear, but as soon as I got to Karen's, things started to look up.
It was really nice and very traditional with turkey roast, leg ham and trifle - an Australian dessert with jelly, custard and sponge cake. Karen's mother and brother where there too, as well as Isaac, Ashlee's boyfriend.
It was great spending the holidays in a family as I can't spend them with my own; besides Karen, Tony, Ash and Casey have always been so very welcoming and nice to me! For Christmas they got me some New Zealand dollar notes, to get started on my trip and also a calendar with stunning pictures of Australian landscapes.
Later I stopped by at Paolo and Sabrina's. Alberto was there too, as well as Claire - not the one I live with at the moment - Luca and baby Antonio. A small serve of pasta and wine were the best way to fill the little room I had left in my belly.
Once home, I Skyped with my family back home gathered at my Grandma's place. I miss them.

È iniziato un po' sottotono ed è quasi peggiorato quando è arrivato il momento di decidere cosa mettere, ma appena sono arrivata da Karen, le cose sono andate migliorando rapidamente!È stato molto bello e, a quanto pare, perfettamente nella tradizione australiana, con tacchino arrosto, prosciutto cotto e questo dessert chiamato ''trifle'' (leggi: trafol) - dolce tipico fatto con gelatina al lampone, crema pasticcera e pan di spagna. La madre e il fratello di Karen erano lì pure loro; c'era anche Isaac, il ragazzo di Ashlee.
È stato davvero speciale per me festeggiare le feste in una familgia, soprattutto dal momento che non potevo passarle con la mia. Per di più, Karen, Tony, Ash e Casey sono sempre stati così gentili e disponibili nei miei confronti. Per Natale mi hanno regalato delle banconote neo-zelandesi, per cominciare col piede giusto la mia vacanza, e anche un calendario con delle immagini mozzafiato dei paesaggi australiani.
Più tardi, sono passata da casa di Paolo e Sabri. Alberto era lì e con lui anche Claire - un'altra, non quella con cui vivo ora, Luca e il piccolo Antonio. Una piccola porzione di pasta e del vino sono stati perfetti per riempire lo spazietto che mi era rimasto nello stomaco dopo pranzo.
Una volta a casa, mi sono sentita su Skype con la mia famiglia, riunita a casa di mia nonna. Mi mancano.
