Day #159

As promised, I'm blogging from my hostel room in Sydney, NSW.
I'm staying at the Sydney Railway Square YHA. The coolest thing about my room - well, first it's huge, so even if I share it with other 7 people doesn't feel like it, a much appreciated change from the hostel I stayed at in London, but I was saying.. the coolest thing - is that it's a refurbished railway carriage giving onto the train station; the downside, however, is that it's a refurbished railway carriage giving onto the actual ever-busy railway station where trains come and go at any hour of the day and night and annoying speakers constantly remind you not to leave your bags unattended or do other weird things you'd never think of doing.

Oh well. I'll briefly go through my day. ahah 'Briefly' being the key word. It's going to take me ages to translate this. -.-
I woke up early this morning and spent a fortune on a taxi to go to Brisbane Domestic Airport. After checking in for the flight, once at the gate, I took out my laptop, because I'm an Internet addict, and *major drama* realized I forgot in the socket back home my adaptor. A heart attack and 13 bucks later, I had a new adaptor and was ready to board.

Flight went all right, it was surprisingly short, but I guess that's because I was completely absorbed in my reading. I started Tess of the d'Urbervilles: I like it already! But I'm less than a fifth into it and the not-so-subtle foreshadowing tells me a lot of shit will be going on soon enough.

From Sydney Airport to Central Station I took a train, and the hostel happens to be - as I mentioned before, right next to the station. Unfortunately my room wasn't ready yet, so I took off with my hand luggage - deposit would have meant an extra $5! - Fish Market-bound. There's something about markets that I particularly love. Anyways, had fish an chips sitting in a very crowded spot on the quay.
Then, after some more walking - by the way, I just calculated it on Google maps and I walked some 10 km today!!! - I landed to Darling Harbour, where they have convention centres, a park and a beautiful Chinese Garden - which I visited. Funniest/weirdest thing about the garden, with an extra $10 on the ticket price - $6 - you could dress up as Chinese emperor/empress/warrior and go around taking pictures.

Back to the hostel, I finally checked in and got rid of my hand luggage, which I had been dragging - and for the whole time in the Chinese Garden, helding - all morning. By then, I couldn't wait any longer: the weather had been glorious all morning and early afternoon and the temptation of seeing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House had been to strong to wait for the proper visit I planned for Tuesday.
The way to get to the lookout point where you can enjoy both Sydney's landmarks is pretty simple from my hostel - always straight on George St. - too bad it's more than 3 km long! I enjoyed the walk, but most of all, the awe-ispiring view of the Opera House 'sails'. When I first caught a glimpse of them, approaching Circular Quay, I felt a shiver down my spine, no kidding.
I was there, finally. I AM HERE. In Sydney! I have often dreamed about Australia back when I was a little girl, but still, even though I've been in Brisbane for the last five months, I didn't realize I did it! I actually did fulfill one of my childhood dreams and in that moment, this afternoon, it felt right, I was were I was meant to be at this stage of my life. It still does feel pretty great ;) I am so full of wonder and gratitude for where I am today that even though I said I'd be brief, I'm jibber-jabbering about dreams and fate and one's place.
I'm done now, I swear. After that, I walked a little bit through the closing The Rocks - wait for it - Sunday Markets and then walked back to the hostel. Stopped to get some groceries for dinner on the way.

ps. Being the huge Gleek I am, I couldn't help feeling guilty and terribly sad about my own happiness when I found out that Cory Monteith passed away last night.

Oh bè, sarò breve. ahah mi viene da ridere, soprattutto perché so già quanto invece mi ritroverò a scrivere -.-
Mannaggia a me!
Poi, dopo aver camminato ancora un po' - a proposito, ho controllato su Google maps e ho macinato qualcosa come 10 kilometri quest'oggi!!!

A Sydney! Incredibile!

Day #158

Post on the run because a) I haven't finished packing yet b) I'd rather take a shower tonight than rush tomorrow morning c) I'd love to get as much sleep as possible and it's already 11:30pm!!! :(

Work was better today. During my break this afternoon, I dropped down a small plan for the upcoming days in Sydney: tomorrow I'll stick to my hostel neighbourhood, on Monday I'll visit Manly and Bondi Beach, Tuesday will be dedicated to the Harbour (bought a ticket for a guided tour of the Opera House - can't even start telling you how excited I am about it!!!) and Wednesday: surprise! Mainly because I, myself, have no idea what I'll do. Any suggestions? What would you like me to blog about? And nope, I'm not going to climb up the Harbour Bridge - unless somebody is willing to pay the $200 ticket for me. :D

Okay, off I go. Will blog from my hostel room tomorrow night! OMG! Can't wait!!!!

Okay, scappo. Vi scrivo domani sera dal mio ostello!!! Ommamma!!! Non vedo l'ora!!!!

Day #157

I have a cold. It sucks.

Today at the restaurant I messed up pretty badly - nothing too serious - but still a) I'm disappointed with myself b) I had to pay with my tip money, which is not THE big deal, what I'm most upset about is failing Davina and Tony's expectations. *sigh* Making mistakes sucks.

Yesterday night at Cloudland was okay. Claire and I didn't have as much fun as last time, but we'll give it another try when we're both off - I don't really expect to have next Thrusday night off as I will be off pretty much the whole first part of the week, but maybe in two weeks. Music wasn't as good as two weeks ago and personally, I had hoped the cute guy I danced with would be there, but he wasn't. It sucked.

Ho il raffreddore. Cheppale.
Cheppalle.

Day #156

And the award for the Best Boss in the World goes to Davina Fiderio!!!! Guess who got enough days off next week to go to SYDNEY?!!!!!!! That's right! I did!!!!! :D Oh, my, I can barely hold it together!!! It has always been a dream of mine to visit it and who cares if it's Winter and I'm going to freeze, I'll be in Sydney!!! Yay!!!!
Just bought my flight and hostel. I'll stay there from Sunday through Wednesday :) Can't wait!!!
Ok, gotta start thinking what to put in my luggage..

At the moment I'm typing from the Hamilton Library as we have Internet problems at home.. and tonight I'll stay at Claire's - I guess - as we're going to the Salsa/Samba/Latino Night at Cloudlands in the Valley! Ok, gotta go.. library is closing for the day!
Talk to you soon!

This is the good life, guys! I'm so grateful!

Day #155

Gah! It's too late for a proper post tonight!
Just so you know, today my awful eyesight proved even worse than I thought!!! I got on the 306 bus instead of the 300 and kind of got lost - I knew the last stop and I knew from there I could pick another bus back home.. but still! And not happy with being lost, I decided to forget touching-off my travel card and got fined some 5 dollars! That is like saying a whole journey and a half!! NOT FAIR.

Gah!
Cheppalle!!! Parliamone, 5 dollari sono un viaggio e mezzo!!! NON È GIUSTO.

Day #154

Today I woke up again at the sound of Cake's alarm and realized she was keeping her phone in between our pillows - that's why I heard the noise so clearly! - but, unlike yesterday, I was lucid enough to move her phone up her pillow and leave it ringing in her ear. I know I am despicable for doing that, but, I mean, it's HER alarm clock, for goodness'sake!

In the early afternoon, I went to Toombul shopping centre, not far from here, looking for a nice top to wear this Thursday night as Claire and I are planning to go back to Cloudlands. I found none, but, on a brighter note, I bought a new book! Yay!
I'd been looking for A Tale of Two Cities by Mr. Charles Dickens in every bookshop I visited for the last three months, and today I found it!! By the way, I might be taking my obsession to The Infernal Devices to a whole new level as I am currently re-reading the saga - after only three months - and slowly reading all the books quoted and mentioned by my favourite characters, namely Will and Tessa  my babies. That is precisely how I started on Great Expectations and why last week I came into possession of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Oh well, they're classics, anyway! Shouldn't do me too much harm.

Day #153

Today was a quiet, productive day: I
- slept, thus recovering from lack of sleep.
- spared my roommate's life (her freaking alarm clock went off, loud, playing a thai song at 6:30am on my day off and I managed not to kill her).
- did my laundry.
- cleaned my bathroom.
- did my shopping.
- Skyped with my grandma.
- read.

It was a good day, even though it had a disastrous start. Hopefully tomorrow the alarm won't be as startling.
