Day #133

Sorry for being MIA the last few days. I just didn't feel like writing on here at all.
I had a pretty rough weekend, and even though nice and exciting things happened, bad stuff happened as well. In case you were wondering, fighting on Skype with your mom is even worse than doing that with your sister.
I'll just write you a recap of the good news.

On Day #130, Saturday, 15 June 2013: Davina announced the winner of the cocktail competition we had going on the last couple of months. The Brianza cocktail I invented was the second best seller, but as the first one was Davina's own drink, I won the contest between the staff and got a 30 bucks gift card for the movies. Sweet. This Thursday I need to turn in another two cocktails for the next season. They must be wintery drinks, suggestions are welcome :)

On Day #131, Sunday, 16 June 2013: Cake, the Thai girl who came to visit the house last Monday, moved in. On a superficial level, I'm happy because this means my rent will be cheaper from now on, even though my freedom might be limited now. On the other hand, it's nice to get to know her and her culture. As I mentioned you last week, I was a little bit worried about the language barrier that might come between us, but it seems like she has a really nice Vocabulary App on her cellphone that might come in handy. What worries me know - yeah, I know, I'm ALWAYS worrying - is the culture clash that I'm just starting to experience now. I opened the cupboard today and the stench smell of herbs and spices was so overwhelming I coughed. Or the fact that she sits on my part of the bed when removing her shoes or socks or that she leaves our bedroom door open when she leaves the house and I'm still sleeping in bed, you know, small things that the sooner we clarify, the better.
For the rest, she seems lovely, of course we come from two very different worlds and I will try harder to understand hers and find compromises - I'm just sharing with you the first night impressions.

On Day #132, Monday, 17 June 2013: I stayed in, in the morning, but decided to head downtown in the late afternoon - early evening, because a) I haven't been eating red meat in a while - somehow I do not seem able to get a nice and tender steak to cook nor to cook a nice and tender steak b) at the Beach House, this pub downtown - I went there once with Claire and Sophie - on Monday night they serve steak and chips for just 10 dollars.
It was a nice meal. Claire joined me and thank goodness we did some shopping and bought a sweater each before going to the Beach House, because when it was time to come back home, the Brisbane night air was more than chilly. I was wearing a thick knit sweater and on top my newly-bought sweater, and still I could feel cold.

It's just Tuesday morning as I'm writing, hence I do not know whether anything worth while telling is going to happen today. Should that be the case, I'll update this post tonight after work.

Qualche suggerimento?
