At church today I found none other than two customers I had last week, and they recognized me! I took a moment to place them, I knew I saw them at the restaurant, but I couldn't really put my finger on a detail or a date. When I saw the older woman, though, I recognized them as two of the party who came in last Sunday to celebrate the 95th birthday of the grandmother. I was even more impressed when the daughter of the old lady remembered my name! They must have enjoyed their dinner!
I spent most of the day with Jess. I visited her in her new apartment in New Farm and then we had brunch close-by, in this café called The Ponycat. The setting was so cool, even though we had to crane our necks to look at the menu as it is written in chalk on a huge blackboard all around the counter and we were sitting in the alleyway as the other tables were full. I ended up getting a beef burger because as I mentioned before, I'm not proud of my red-meat-cooking skills and I like to get as much as I can when I'm having meals out. It was so yummy! And not crazy expensive, either.
After that, we walked up to Eagle St. Pier and from there we got on the free City Hopper Ferry which got us to North Quay, near the Treasury Casino and the square where the markets on Wednesday are set.
GIORNO LIBERO!!
In chiesa oggi ho incontrato due clienti che ho servito al ristorante settimana scorsa, e mi hanno riconosciuto! Io ci ho messo un attimo a focalizzare un dettaglio o una data per inquadrarle, ma quando ho visto la signora più anziana, mi sono ricordata della famiglia che si era riunita per festeggiare il 95esimo compleanno della nonna. Sono rimasta ancora più sorpresa, quando la figlia di questa mi ha chiamata per nome! Devono proprio aver apprezzato la cena!
Ho passato la maggior parte della giornata con Jess. Sono andata a trovarla a New Farm, nel suo nuovo appartamento e poi abbiamo fatto un brunch in un posto lì vicino, un bar chiamato The Ponycat. Il locale era proprio carino, anche se abbiamo dovuto allungarci e sbirciare attraverso la vetrina per leggere il menù. Infatti, questo era scritto con gessi colorati su una lavagna enorme, grande quanto la parete intorno al bancone e dato che non c'erano tavoli disponibili all'interno, ci hanno fatto sedere nella vietta laterale. Ho ordinato un hamburger perché come vi dicevo l'altro giorno, cucinare la carne rossa non è proprio la mia specialità e quindi ogni volta che mangio fuori, se posso la prendo. Era buonissimo! E neanche troppo caro!
Dopodiché, abbiamo fatto una passeggiata fino a Eagle Street Pier, dove abbiamo preso il traghetto gratuito fino a North Quay, proprio a fianco del Treasury Casinò e alla piazza che ospita il mercato tutti i mercoledì.
Abbiamo deciso di usare la carta regalo che Davina mi ha dato settimana scorsa e siamo andati al multisala all'ultimo piano del Myer Centre. Abbiamo visto Cattivissimo Me 2: bellissimo! A me è piaciuto molto e ci sono stati dei momenti in cui non riuscivo a smettere di ridere. Mi sono accorta però, che molte delle cose più divertenti non le avrei capite da bambina e ho pensato che forse questo è uno di quei film pensati tanto per i bambini, quanto per gli adulti che accompagnano i suddetti bambini. Spassosissimo! E i minions, gli ometti gialli?! Epici!
